Meet the Team

Dan Mackey, MD

Board-Certified in Pediatrics, Hospice & Palliative Medicine, and Critical Care

Dr. Dan Mackey provides comprehensive primary care and palliative care services at Mountain Creek Medical in Sylva, North Carolina. He is board-certified in Pediatrics, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and Critical Care, offering both routine and complex medical care for patients across the lifespan.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, Dr. Mackey completed his Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. After practicing as a pediatric intensivist, he returned to Western North Carolina to focus on hospice and palliative medicine. He completed Harvard Medical School’s Program for Palliative Care Education and Practice and became board-certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine in 2012. He also served as Medical Director for Palliative Care and Hospice at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva.

In 2018, Dr. Mackey founded Skyland Palliative Medicine to serve patients and families facing serious illness in Sylva and surrounding Western North Carolina communities. His approach emphasizes both high-quality clinical care and quality of life.

Dr. Mackey considers it a privilege to practice medicine in the community he calls home.

Kimberly Stillwachs, MD

Primary Care & Family Medicine

Dr. Kimberly Stillwachs provides comprehensive primary care and family medicine services at Mountain Creek Medical in Sylva, North Carolina. She cares for patients of all ages, from newborns to adults, with a focus on preventive care and long-term health management.

Her clinical interests include newborn care, general pediatrics, chronic disease management (including diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol disorders), mood disorders, well-woman care, and adult and adolescent ADD/ADHD management. Dr. Stillwachs works closely with patients to create personalized care plans that support both physical and mental health.

She is committed to building long-term relationships with individuals and families throughout the Sylva and Western North Carolina community.

Thomas Craig Harris, RN, FNP

Family Nurse Practitioner

Craig Harris, RN, FNP, provides family medicine and primary care services at Mountain Creek Medical in Sylva, North Carolina. A native of Bryson City, he has served Western North Carolina in healthcare for more than three decades.

Craig earned degrees from Western Carolina University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He began his medical career as an emergency department technician before becoming a registered nurse, working in emergency care, cardiovascular and trauma critical care, leadership, and hospice-palliative care across regional hospitals including Harris Regional and Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He became a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2016.

His clinical interests include pediatrics, chronic care management, mental health, cardiovascular disease management, palliative care, and care for underserved populations. Craig values continuity of care and is honored to serve the same community where he began his healthcare journey.

Kathy Campbell, PA-C

Physician Assistant

Kathy Campbell, PA-C, has been providing primary care services in Sylva, North Carolina since 1997. At Mountain Creek Medical, she delivers comprehensive family medicine with a focus on preventive care and long-term patient relationships.

A graduate of Emory University, Kathy brings experience in dermatology, sports medicine, occupational health, adolescent care, and women’s health. She has a special interest in evaluating and treating skin abnormalities and supporting adolescent and women’s healthcare needs.

Having raised her family in Sylva, Kathy is deeply connected to the Western North Carolina community and values caring for multiple generations of local families.

Chelsea Hollifield Dennis, DNP, FNP-C

Doctor of Nursing Practice | Family Nurse Practitioner

Chelsea Hollifield Dennis, DNP, FNP-C, provides comprehensive primary care and family medicine services at Mountain Creek Medical in Sylva, North Carolina. A native of Sylva, she is dedicated to serving patients across Western North Carolina.

Chelsea earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Honors College of Western Carolina University, her Master of Science in Nursing from WCU, and later completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) through Western Carolina University and UNC Charlotte. She began her career as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Harris Regional Hospital before advancing into family practice.

Her experience includes family medicine, women’s health, pediatric care, urgent care, and long-term care. Chelsea focuses on coordinated, patient-centered care—helping individuals navigate healthcare systems while establishing a strong primary care foundation for lifelong wellness.

Adam Barker, MSN,FNP-C

Family Nurse Practitioner | Urgent Care

Adam Barker, MSN, FNP-C, provides urgent care and primary care services at Mountain Creek Medical in Sylva, North Carolina.

He began his medical career in public service, becoming a certified medical first responder at age 18 and later earning his EMT-Paramedic certification. Adam served communities across Western North Carolina in emergency medical services before advancing his education. He earned his Associate Degree in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse in 2017, working in emergency departments at Swain Community Hospital and Harris Regional Hospital. He later completed his Master of Science in Nursing at Western Carolina University and became a certified Family Nurse Practitioner in 2022.

Adam provides urgent care services and will soon offer medical card certifications for commercial motor vehicle (CDL) operations. He is committed to delivering timely, accessible care for the Sylva community.

Dustin Clark, PharmD

Clinical Pharmacist | Medication Management

Dr. Dustin Clark is a clinical pharmacist at Mountain Creek Medical in Sylva, North Carolina, specializing in comprehensive medication management and chronic disease optimization.

He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from South University in Savannah, Georgia, and completed a post-graduate residency in hospital pharmacy at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. Since 2012, he has served Western North Carolina in both hospital and outpatient pharmacy settings, including Harris Regional Hospital, Swain Community Hospital, and community pharmacy practice.

Dr. Clark works directly with patients and providers to improve medication safety, manage complex drug regimens, reduce side effects, address cost concerns, and optimize treatment outcomes for chronic conditions. He also supports vaccine education and coordination with specialty providers.
